2000 special buses to Thiruvannamalai

The famous Karthigai Deepam festival at the Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar temple is scheduled to commence on 3rd December with the divine flag-hoisting. The chariot procession is scheduled on 9th December.
The most important part of the festival, the lighting of the Mahadeepam on the Thiruvannamalai mountain is scheduled on 12th December.
The occasion of Pournami (Full Moon) Girivalam is scheduled on 13th December.
The Karthigai Deepam festival is celebrated over 10 days when Lakhs of devotees are expected to participate.
As a large number of devotees are expected from various places, including Chennai Metro city,basic amenities for the visiting devotees are being arranged. Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has arranged 600 special buses for the devotees.
A total of 2000 special buses are to operate from various places including Chennai, Salem, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Panrutti, Neyveli, Nagai, and Puducherry.
