Mention mode of learning in degrees and certificates: UGC

Posted on: 04/Nov/2016 11:10:46 AM
The University Grants Commission has ordered the academic institutes offering Open and Distance Learning that they should mention the mode of learning in degrees and certificates which they issue to the students.

Academic institutes are offering Open and Distance Learning to the students who are not able to go to colleges in order to pursue the higher studies. Almost all the universities are offering Open and Distance Learning courses and also issue the degrees and certificates for the same.

Recently there were complaints that some of the universities are not mentioning the mention the mode of learning in degrees and certificates which they issue to the students.

In view of the foregoing the UGC has mentioned in a letter: Some institutions or universities offering education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode have issued the degrees, mark sheets, diplomas, certificates and so on to students without mentioning the mode of delivery of the programme. All universities should reflect the mode of delivery of programme on all the documents issued to students in order to erase ambiguities between conventional mode degrees with that of ODL mode degrees.
