Urad dhal, Toor dhal and palmolien oil to be supplied before Deepavali in ration shops

The Special Public Distribution System scheme under which commodities such as Urad dhal, Toor dhal and palmolien oil are distributed at subsidized rates to the people expired during the month of September. The Tamil Nadu Government has extended the scheme till 31-12-2016. The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation procures essential commodities such as Toor dhal, Urad dhal and palmolien oil from the open market for supply under this special scheme.
As per the government orders, 7000 metric tons of Urad dal, 160000 metric tonnes of Canada yellow dal and one crore and 53 lakhs packets of palmolien oil have been procured by The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation through open tender. Orders have been issued to the firms that have quoted the lowest prices. 70 to 80 percent of the said products have been moved to the PDS shops. The Tamil Nadu government has announced that all the products will be distributed to the consumers through PDS outlets before Deepavali.
