Metro Rails are already being operated between Koyambedu and Alandur. Metro Rail services are being operated between 6 am and 10 pm. Metro Rail services on Sundays commences at 8 am. Since the metro rail services are being operated in the new sectors, the commuters have been increased by 17000.

Four shuttle cars will be used to ferry passengers every 15 minutes from the airport metro rail station. The cars are being introduced as the station is not directly linked to the airport terminals. The service began on Saturday. Charges are free and is being operated from 10 am onwards.
