FIR and case details to get filed online in Tamil Nadu

Posted on: 03/Oct/2016 2:47:15 PM
As a move to advance the systems in police department, a network is to be introduced for coordinating all case details. Accordingly, necessary measures are being taken to file First Information Report (FIR) online.

The system was first tested in Kanchipuram district. On observing good reception for the system, it was launched across Tamil Nadu yesterday, owing to the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. A police officer with good expertise in computer handling is appointed in police stations to file the necessary case details.

Police Commissioner, Saileshkumar Yadav launched the system in Madurai yesterday. During the launch, he stated that the First Information Report has so far been handwritten or typed using typewriter. Since 15th April, the FIR alone has been registered online. Henceforth, except final judgement and appeal in the case, all the five stages of a case will be registered online. Tamil Nadu is the first state to get this scheme introduced in India.

Here, the case documents cannot be edited or changed. Those who have filed the complaint can get to know the status of the case if they have the case number in hand. It is also possible to view the most recent case taking place every day.
