Hot weather will persist for 1 more week in Chennai

This is the southwest monsoon season in India. Southwest monsoon rains have been widespread in several states, including the Northern states in India.

Usually, it rains less in Tamil Nadu during the Southwest monsoon rainy season. The average rainfall would be 34 cm. This year, it is expected to rain 15.86 cm. However, it has rained 15.4 cm so far.

The Director of Chennai Meteorological Centre, Mr. S. Balachandran spoke about today’s (Wednesday, 17th August) weather:

It may rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu. There are prospects for the hot season to continue for the next 1 week. There are no prospects for any rain. There are no chances for any storms either.

It may rain in a few places due to thermal convection. This rain would also be less. Dry weather will persist.

Chennai metro and its suburbs will remain somewhat cloudy during the forenoon. After that, it will become cloudy. It may rain or rain with thunder in a few places in the city. Strong air may blow from the ground level. There are prospects of a cyclonic wind blow.

The maximum temperature will be 38 Degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 29 Degrees Celsius.

The average rain during the southwest monsoon season will come down after a week. However, in the current period, the rain received is higher than the average.
