BSNL on an expansion spree

BSNL has been introducing a number of new schemes to attract its broadband customers. The mobile network provider had launched its broadband services few years ago. This significantly increased its customer base. An increase in number of downloads including songs, videos, movies and data is observed. Initially the speed was just 64, 128, 256 Kbps. This later got increased to 512 Kbps. This attracted a number a new customers into the network which eventually increased broadband usage that in turn led to reduction in data transmission speed.
This was followed by a number of complaints from customers stating that they experience trouble in downloading films and others. There were many other private players who started showing interest in providing broadband services. Hence, BSNL largely lost many of its customers.
As a move to withhold its existing customers and attract new ones, BSNL is in an expansion spree by increasing data transmission speed.
In a note about this, the higher officials at BSNL state that the data transmission speed will be increased from 512 kbps to 1024 kbps, targeting to sort out issues with lesser data transmission speed and hindrances in downloads. Furthermore, the volume of download is also increased. There are other FUP to be introduced too.
Many new schemes
Customers can enjoy 2 mbps internet speed for Rs 799 and Rs 949. They can download up to 10 GB and 20 GB and this scheme comes with a validity period of 30 days. For Rs 1199, they can enjoy 4 mbps speed and 30 GB download. For Rs 1449, they can enjoy download speed of 8 mbps for up to 40 GB.
This new broadband service will function based on the customer’s usage. It will double up its speed depending on the scheme opted. Even if the customer has completely used the available data download, they can still have access to the web. Customers will receive message about renewal of the scheme. He added that this scheme will be of great help in expanding its customer base.
