Samacheer Kalvi verdict: A victory for common man, says Karunanidhi

It is the time to celebrate the victory of commoners, says Karunanidhi in a jubilant mood after heard the Supreme court verdict on Samacheer Kalvi.

On Monday, in an interaction with reporters, Mr. Karunanidhi asked if Chief Minister Jayalalithaa would give up her “adamant attitude” after the Supreme Court order to implement Samacheer Kalvi immediately, and said that he expected her to change. 

Terming it a victory in one of the many battles of the DMK in its fight for social justice, he said that it was also a victory for the commoners, students and Tamils in general. On Ms. Jayalalithaa`s speech in the Assembly on Monday that she would abide by the Supreme Court order on Samacheer Kalvi, he said that it was the responsibility of the media to monitor its implementation.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan urged the government to take immediate steps for its implementation.

MDMK general secretary Vaiko said that the judgment to implement Samacheer Kalvi this year itself had protected the educational rights and future of 1.22 crore students. DK president K. Veeramani said he expected a change in the Chief Minister`s attitude towards people.
