Nilgiris continues to get heavy rains

Nilgiris district is getting 1st spell of heavy rains this monsoon. Holiday announced in Nilgirs at some places. More rains expected today in Nilgiris and Coimbatore belt.
Cavery Catchment and Dams

Kodagu district which is the source of KRS inflow has been getting heavy to very rains from yesterday. Soon KRS inflow will increase. The other dams which when overflows gives inflow to KRS are Harangi and Hemavathi. Kabini outflow comes directly to Mettur.

Harangi Dam with capacity of 8.5 tmcft is 30% full and inflow increased to 3742 cusecs.
Kabini Dam with capacity of 19.5 tmcft is 18% full and inflow increased to 3128 cusecs.
Today morning massive rains reported in Cauvery catchment. This is just a start and more inflows are expected. I will update more on the same.
Mettur Dam with capacity of 93.5 tmcft is 9% full and inflow is 1665 cusecs. Periyar Dam dam storage is just 5% full.
