Very soon, your train travel experience will turn even more luxurious as you can enjoy lip-smacking pizzas and burgers delivered to your coach. Place your orders online with the Indian Railways website and get pizzas and burgers delivered to you. When you want to make last minute purchases, you can get them on the platform from vendor boys who will also have Indian Thali.

Quick service restaurants (QSR) like Burger King, Domino’s Pizza, KFC, Subway and Pizza Hut are making strides, targeting train passengers by launching stores in railway stores. There are over 23 million passengers every day traveling in 12,000 trains.

Food courts in stations including Mumbai, Madurai, Agra, Pune, Visakhapatnam, etc are set to have these outlets. This move is targeted to boost sales by these restaurants and also make transformation in the way food offerings are made in the Indian rail network. A few restaurants are a step ahead by tweaking their menus and techniques so as to meet the passenger demands.

Gaurav Dewan, the Chief Operating Officer of Travel Food Services said that brands are unable to ignore the railway segment as they observe multitudinous growth in passenger traffic and increased disposable income. On an average, passengers spend Rs 100 to 125 per meal. The money spent at railway station is comparatively lesser than that spent at airport; however, the former offers higher volume of business than airport.

The holding company of TFS – K Hospitality Corp has made an investment of Rs 200 for widening its presence in railway station and airport in the following two or three years. These food courts will serve foods from national as well as international brands. Pizzas, Lebanese cuisine, and North Indian dishes are available with Domino’s, MM Maroosh, and Curry Kitchen respectively.
