Anna university releases a list of engineering colleges with identical names

The counselling for joining engineering courses is now in progress.
In the 1st phase, counselling for the special groups was to be completed. After that, the OC (Open community) candidates are being counseled.
During the counselling, the students tend to get confused when they come across engineering colleges with identical names.
In order to clear this confusion, Anna Univeristy has released a list of engineering colleges with identical names in the website: www.annauniv.edu.
For the academic year 2016-17, 525 engineering colleges are functioning in the state of Tamil Nadu. The government quota of the seats available in these colleges is being filled up through counselling.
Anna University has been releasing the rank list of all engineering colleges every year based on the students’ pass percentage. Now, it has released a list of engineering colleges with identical names. They have been released on the official website of Anna University.
A senior official from Anna University explained that these lists are being released for the benefit of the students. If the students select their college keeping the identity number of the college along with the name, there would be no confusion.
