Amma weekly market in 7 places in Chennai

Chennai Corporation will be very soon opening Amma Weekly Markets in 7 places in Chennai. As of now the Chennai Corporation has finalised three locations to set up the city`s inaugural Amma weekly markets. Besides a strip of land near Mint flyover, Arumbakkam (near Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board office) and Kotturpuram (near Varasiddhi Vinayakar temple) will play host to the market that will feature products manufactured by government-aided and self-help groups from across Tamil Nadu.
200 shops will be set up. In these shops 1256 essential commodities including vegetables and grocery will be sold. If this is found successful, these scheme will be introduced in all the 200 wards.
