MBBS Cutoff mark down: 1st stage counselling from Monday (20th June)

The admission of the students for joining medical courses is in progress based on the marks scored in +2.

The first stage counselling is scheduled to commence from day-after-tomorrow – Monday, 20th June

It must be noted that no letters have been sent to the candidates regarding counselling. The details can be downloaded from the internet.

It has been announced that the candidates can participate in the counselling even without the invitation letter.

The cutoff  mark for this year for MBBS course has come down. For all candidates (Open Community) , the cutoff mark has been fixed at 197.75.

In the rank list for MBBS course, 502 candidates belonging to backward communities out of the first 739 candidates, the cutoff mark has been fixed at 196.75.

As compared to the last year, the cutoff for OC candidates has come down from 198 to 197.75 and the cutoff for the backward community candidates has come down from 197.25 to 196.75.

The Indian Medical Council has given approval for the start of a government ESI Medical College in Coimbatore. Thus, 65 more MBBS seats are available for counselling. Only 5 students managed to score 200 out of 200 in Physics (the main subject required for MBBS Course. These 2 factors are attributed to be the reasons for bringing the cutoff mark down.

For joining the MBBS course commencing this year, around 3266 students who had completed +2 in the previous years have also applied. 

As the cutoff mark has come down, there are prospects for more than 500 students out of this lot of 3266 to join the medical course.
