Sea erosions between Chennai and Kanyakumari

Few days back because of furious sea, some of the houses located near the fore shore estates were destroyed. The fishermen also were deeply affected because of this. It was earlier mentioned that this sea erosion takes place only in Chennai.
But now it has been found that the sea erosion has been spread from Nemmeli to Kanyakumari. Sea erosion was found in 12 places in this stretch.
The fishermen were asked the reason for this. In order to prevent the erosion big boulders are placed but even in such places there seems to be more erosion.
There is less erosions in the place where there are coral reefs and rocks. In some of the coastal areas in Tamil Nadu the sea water comes inwards by ½ kilometer.
During the study by the Central team, sand samples were taken for research. The team will also study various aspects for this erosion.
