Posted on: 10/Jun/2016 11:47:35 AM
Autism - the word is heard more often on 2nd of April. That marks to be the day for creating awareness about autism. Many special camps take place on this day. In India, one in every 125 children are born with this disorder, said ENT specialist, Dr Karthikeyan.

Autism is the state of being deviated from normal state. Many a times, it is often misconceived to be a mental trouble which is completely false. Autistic children are more like normal kids, the doctor said. He also added a few of the most common symptoms of autism. Below are they.
  • Autistic children will have troubles in behaving with others and mingling with the society.
  • They will find it tough to communicate through body language and talks.
  • Their behavior, activities and wishes will be completely different such that they have a separate world for themselves.
Characteristics of autistic children
  • They love being lonely. They will be seen detached from others more often.
  • They will not have the practice of communicating face to face. A few of such children will have this characteristic right from infancy.
  • They do not prefer changes. They will not let you rearrange or shift even small objects at home.
  • No matter how loud you speak, they will not pay attention to you. A few parents assume this as deafness, but most autistic children do not have any such faults with hearing.
  • They will not shout with pain or share their bodily pains with others. A few children cry out aloud even for minor injuries and scratches.
  • These children will not fear for dangerous situations.
If you have got such a child at home, it is recommended for you to visit a psychiatrist or an autism specialist or a developmental pediatrician. You have increased probability of curing autism if it is diagnosed within 5 years of age.
