Deadline for submitting medical college admission applications closes

Monday marked the end of the sale of medical admission applications in Tamil Nadu. The deadline for submitting the applications closed on Tuesday.
According to an office bearer of the Selection Committee, All over the state, 24,100 applications were sold, among which 6,811 applications were sold in Chennai city.As many as 3,912 applications were downloaded. We have received 25,470 filled in applications so far. We are expecting 500 more applications, which we are yet to receive from the central post office.
The merit list will be released by the selection committee on June 17. The first phase of counselling for the courses will begin on June 20.
This academic year, there will be 2,253 seats in the 20 government colleges, 470 government quota seats in self-financing medical colleges and 130 seats in the lone ESIC College. There will be 85 BDS seats in the Madras Dental College and 970 seats in self-financing dental colleges.
The cut off mark is expected to go up by 0.25 to 1 mark in each of the categories. The reason for this is the number of Class 12 students securing a perfect score in biology. This number was 775 in 2016, compared to 387 in 2015.
