Applications to be distributed for MBBS and BDS from today

The director of medical education, R. Vimala announced that applications for medical and BDS studies will be distributed from today.
 
In Tamil Nadu, there are about 2650 medical seats in 20 government medical colleges. Of these, 15 percent seats counting to 397 are allotted for All India reservation. The remaining 2253 seats (85 percent) are for state government reservation. 15 percent BDS seats counting to 100 seats on the whole in BDS colleges in Tamil Nadu are allotted for All India reservation and the remaining are for state government reservation.
 
Likewise, ESI hospital, KK Nagar, Chennai has 100 MBBS seats on the whole. Of this, 65 seats are for the state government. Out of the 760 medical seats with 6 private medical colleges, 470 of them are for the state. 970 of 1610 BDS seats with 17 private dental colleges are allotted for the state government.
 
At this juncture, distribution of applications for medicine for the academic year 2016-17 has started today. These will be sold between 10 am and 5 pm every day from 26th May. On the whole, 40,000 applications are sold. SC and ST students can show photocopies of their community certificate and get the medical application for free. For other caste students, a charge of Rs 500 is applicable.
 
Application fees is to be sent to Secretary, Medical Selection Committee, Keelpakkam, Chennai - 10 as DD. Applications can also be downloaded from www.tnhealth.org and www.tn.gov.in. Completed applications can be sent directly or through post; the application should reach the committee before 5pm on 7th June.
 
Speaking about this, the Director of Medical education R. Vimala said the ranking list for MBBS and BDS education will be announced on 17th June. First phase of counselling will take place between 20th and 25th June. The second phase of counselling will begin on 18th July. There is no need for students to fear for entrance examination, he added.
