Chennai Metro Rail work in Anna Salai to resume soon

Chennai Metro Rail awarded a contract worth Rs. 1,947 crore to Gammon India and Russian firm Mosmetrostroy for construction of seven underground stations along Anna Salai, including at LIC, Government Estate and Thousand Lights in the year 2011 but the work did not progress. Because of this the contract was terminated.
Now the new contract to complete the underground tunneling work between Government Estate to AG-DMS has been given to Afcons Infrastructure Limited. This contract was finalised last week soon after the elections. The tunneling work has to be finished in 10 months. The work will start in a few weeks as man power has to be organized and the equipment have to be recommissioned.
