Election on 11th June for 6 Rajya Sabha Members to be vacant in Tamil Nadu

The Chief Election Commission has informed that elections will be held on 11th June for the 57 Rajya Sabha seats including 6 Rajya Sabha seats in the state of Tamil Nadu which will fall vacant.

The Rajya Sabha term for the members A Navaneethakrsihnan, Paul Manoj Pandian, and A William Rabi Bernard (all AIADMK), K P Ramalingam and S Thangavelu (DMK), and E M Sudarsana Nachiyappan (Congress) comes to an end on 29th June.

As the term is scheduled to expire shortly, the Chief Election Commission has released the dates of elections on Thursday (12th May).

As per the Election timetable, the news about the elections will be announced on 24th May. The last date for filing the application as a candidate is 31st May. The scrutiny of applications will be carried out on 1st June. The last date for withdrawing the application is 3rd June. The election is on 11th June. Votes will be counted on 11th June.

The elections for the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly is scheduled on 16th May.

The winning candidates will have the rights to elect the 6 Rajya Sabha members falling vacant.
