Mercedes Benz to unveil SUV model

The flagship car by German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz will unveil its model SUV, the GLS on the 18th of May 2016. For those who are unaware of GLS, it is the new term for GL-Class as per the Mercedes new nomenclature.
This car will be called the S-class of SUVs and carries the combination of luxury sedan and the go anywhere feature of big SUV. There is not much change with the design, but has got an enhanced section with a new face. It has an all-LED headlamps and tail lamps, a contemporary kind of grille and new type of alloy wheels all of which account to the latest updates.
This iteration of the luxury car will be a seven-seater and is inclusive of all technologies that one may expect. It comes with a COMAND infotainment system consisting a large screen like iPad located at the centre console. This will be a single point for audio, navigation and also a reverse camera display. There are various menus that may help in setting the car up. The other noteworthy addition is three-spoke sterring wheel and Nappa leather upholstery applicable to all the seven seats.
The GLS will be launched in its 350d avatar. Power of 255Ps and torque of 620Nm is produced by the 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine. The machine is coupled with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that powers all the four wheels by using Mercedes 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. Taking under consideration the diesel car ban in New Delhi, Mercedes may eye on getting petrol powered GLS. The brand may also consider this model for launch in India. An AMG variant with about 550 PS power on tap is likely to reach the shores too.
The price is likely to get bumped up from the present levels to about Rs 80 lakh mark.
