Chennai suburban residents suffer from frequent power-cuts

A whole lot of middle class society residents in suburban areas of Chennai like Perungalathur, Pozhichalur suffer from frequent power-cuts, especially during the nights.
The news is gathered that there are many damaged power transformers in operation in these areas including Perungalathur, Selaiyur, Pozhichalur, Pallavaram, and Madambakkam. It is also known that some transformers keep burning. This has led to the local residents, especially the office and school-goers to move about in great panic. This erratic power situation may also lead to damage the household equipment of these residents.
The tannery industry owners also keep complaining that their work gets acutely affected by these frequent long power-cuts.
With the Tamil Nadu government proclaiming that 24-hour non-stop electricity being provided, the public & the loss-making factory owners in these areas feel that the summer can be passed somewhat comfortably only if the prevailing 4 to 5 power cuts during the day is rectified.
The local residents strongly appeal that TANGEDCO should take immediate necessary remedial action.
