A system to replace cash and credit cards with finger prints is being developed by scientists in Japan. The Easing of payment and dispensing with the needs for cash or cards is seen as a move to attract more tourists to the country. Tests on the system will start this summer.

A bank and a theme park in Nagasaki Prefecture already have a system similar to this. Customers to the two institutions can make payments at over 30 restaurants and businesses.

When entering Japan, the user will need to go through a scan. Assuming you have money, all the user needs to do during his or her stay in the country is to place two fingers on a scanner to complete payment. Tourists who will use this facility will no longer need to fill out tax exemption forms, and have faster services for all their needs.

Japan hopes to test the system on some 300 businesses in areas that are most popular with tourists. Based on the the usage, data on spending, location, frequency and similar factors will be collected an studied. This will give the country`s government a good idea of the potential of the initiative.

Speaking about this, a senior official of a leading bank in Japan said, The system is also superior in the area of security, such as preventing people from impersonating our customers.
