What is the fare on Metro Rail between Koyambedu - Chennai Airport?

In the 1st phase of the Chennai Public dream Project, Chennai Metro Rail Service, has been operating between Koyambedu - Alandur since last year.
The minimum fare for travelling in Metro for a distance less than 10 km is fixed at Rs. 10/- and the maximum is Rs. 40/-.
Metro passengers have raised demand that this fare is quite high and it should be reduced. The public protest that the Metro Rail fare in Chennai is higher as compared to other cities. However, Metro Rail has not responded so far.
In this scenario, the 2nd phase of service to be operated between Chinnamalai & Chennai Airport, covering a distance of 15 km) is scheduled shortly.
So, the fare for this service is to be fixed shortly. As the current fare between the full distance of Alandur to Koyambedu is fixed at Rs. 40/-, it is being explored whether it would be right to fix this fare between Chiianmalai - Airport at Rs. 50/-.
A Metro Rail official informed that this fare is likely to be fixed at Rs. 50/-. This rate is fair enough and cannot be termed as high.
