Public can complaint about overcharging in theatres

According City Police Commissioner, public can lodge a complaint with the helpline number- 044-23452359 in case a theatre sells tickets at overpriced rates.
As per the Tamil Nadu Cinema Regulation Rules 1957, it is a crime to charge excess ticket price in theatre than the amount determined by the government. Special teams, each comprising an Assistant commissioner of police, a commercial tax official and a revenue official have been formed to curb the menace based on orders from the Madras High Court and state departments.
