CMRL successfully conducts trial run between Alandur and Airport
The Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) successfully conducted an inspection trial run between Alandur and Airport recently using a self-propelled Overhead Maintenance Vehicle (OME).The line is part of the Saidapet-Alandur-Airport elevated stretch of the Washermanpet-Airport corridor.
The inspection involved checking of track and schedule of dimension. Installation of electrical traction is in progress.Trail runs with rolling stock like locomotives and coaches are expected to commence in a month.
The trials will look at the behavior of signals, electrical traction, oscillation of tracks and functioning of trains on the route and at the stations. CMRL plans to commission this line later this year.
