Pre bedtime routine that can ensure sound sleep

Not being able to sleep on time, stay asleep through the night and wake up feeling refreshed also depends on your routine after 9 pm.  Here are few things that you can do to change your routine without too much problem. 

Inconsistent evening meals can affect your sleep. try to eat at the same time every night. Maintain the quantity of your meal also. Stick to having heavier breakfasts and lighter dinners. The body keeps awake trying to digest heavier dinners. 

Try to leave work completely when you leave the office. Checking mail before going to bed does affect your sleep. Remember that if it something extremely urgent, someone will call you. Residual work can wait till the next day. Silence notifications on your phone so that you can relax in the evening. 

Many prefer to have a few cocktails after a trying day. While alcohol makes you feel sleepy, it affects the quality of your sleep. More often than not, you wake up feeling as tired if not more than the previous evening. If you are going to have a drink, drink a glass of water for every glass of alcohol that you drink. Stop drinking at least three hours before you go to sleep. 

Going to bed angry with your spouse or partner hinders sound sleep. Address issues before going to bed. Work together to come to a compromise. Your relationship will be happier and your mood in the morning better. 

Watching movies in the dark is another factor that hinders sleep. So does binge watching. Shut down all electronic devices as early as two hours before you go to sleep.
