Mobile app to locate e toilets

Soon there will be a mobile app to locate the nearest electronic toilets (e toilets) in the city. The app will be launched by the Greater Chennai Corporation and Eram Scientific Solutions (ESS). 183 e toilets have been installed in the city by ESS. 110 of these have been opened in zones that include Manali, Royapuram, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Adyar and Perungudi.
The app will show the location of the toilets and also provide toilets on how to use these toilets, give usage data, information on health status and water condition. All data will be on real time basis.
A senior official from ESS said, Android smartphone users could download eToilet app from the Google Play Store. The idea is to make e-toilets accessible for the people and also to stop open defecation. The app will also give information on facilities such as napkin vending machine and incinerator. Users can share their feedback on the eToilet along with a picture. Residents can suggest new places for eToilets.
