Upset schools to petition state

Posted on: 14/Jun/2011 11:36:55 PM
The much awaited announcement on the revised fee structure for private schools in the State was made here on Monday, but the confusion over fees in over 6,400 private schools in the state is not likely to end any time soon.

A majority of the managements made it clear that the new fee structure would have negative impacts on the quality of education provided. "Under this fee structure, we would be forced to stop all co-curricular activities, including annual day, arts and science festivals, and even study tours," said N Vijayan, general secratary of the matriculation schools association and chairman of four city schools. About 6,400 private schools in the city are likely to approach the government in a couple of days to resolve the crisis.

The Students Federation of India (SFI) has urged the state government to constitute a committee with the district chief education officers to ascertain whether all schools were implementing the revised fee structure.
