Indias largest food plaza to come up in Tambaram

India`s largest railway food court will come up in the city with more than 25 eatery brands that will serve local and international cuisine and accommodate around 500 people at a time at Tambaram.

The eatery that will come up at three places, one at the concourse, the second on the GST Road side and at the third on the eastern side of Tambaram station is expected to benefit the around 1.7 lakh commuters who pass through the terminal on a daily basis.

The items to relish there would range from the local kaara dosa, medhu vadai, aappam and parotta to those like pizza and burgers. The major food brands of south India, which will come under one umbrella, will also serve other delicacies. The food court is likely to be completed in six months.

The food plaza that will come up in an area of 15,000 square-feet will be the largest in terms of space at any railway station in the country. It will be run and operated by JS Caterers, an Erode-based catering chain who won the financial bid at Rs 4 crore per annum for the next 12 years.
