FOREIGN EXCHANGE FOR YOU

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Chennai, in association with FEDAI (Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India) is organizing an event titled Foreign Exchange for You on 18th and 19th  June, 2011 in Chennai as a part of its financial literacy initiatives. The venue is Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall, Harrington Road, Chetpet. This is an Exhibition-cum-Interface session on Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), 1999.

The objective of the event is to familiarize members of the public with current Rules and Regulations under Foreign Exchange Mangement Act (FEMA) governing the current and capital account transactions. This includes remittance and exchange facilities, export, import, foreign direct investments and external commercial borrowings, among others. RBI would also seek public feedback on policies and procedures relating to foreign exchange (forex) transactions so as to make them more user friendly and conducive to facilitating cross-border trade and investments. 

The event will feature presentations on various aspects of forex transactions by distinguished speakers as well as a face-to-face interaction with the senior officials of RBI and will benefit customers of commercial banks, students of professional colleges including B-schools, chartered accountants, corporate, company secretaries, representative bodies of exporters/ importers and their members etc. Quizzes will be held for students and prizes will be awarded to winners. To familiarize visitors with the regulatory procedures as well as foreign exchange related products and services, an exhibition comprising of stalls by RBI, major commercial banks and government agencies will be held at the venue on both days from 9 am onwards.
