Revision in school fees

A committee headed by Justice Sigaravelar is formed to set benchmark for fees at private schools. The committee has fixed fee standards based on infrastructure of schools and the same is officially announced.
As per the newly rolled out fee structure, a 20 to 40 percent hike is introduced for the following three years. Compared to other districts and cities, fees rates are fixed at higher slab in Chennai.
The fee for LKG class with Azhagappa matriculation school, Purasawalkam was Rs 11,400. This is increased to Rs 12,540 in the present year (2016-17). Fees for class 12 was Rs 22,000 last year. This is now hiked to Rs 24,200.
PS matriculation school, Mylapore priced Rs 9000 for LKG last year and the same is now Rs 9900 in the ongoing year. Similarly, fees for class 12 is hiked from Rs 22,000 to Rs 24,200.
Fees for LKG in Anna Adharsh school was Rs 14,650 last year and the same is now Rs 16,115, and with class-12, the fees is hiked from Rs 30,200 to Rs 33,220.
In Krishnaswami matriculation higher secondary school, Anna Nagar, the fees was Rs 9000 and Rs 17,000 for LKG and class 12 respectively. These are hiked to Rs 10,890 and Rs 18,700 for the ongoing year.
In Chinmaya vidhyalaya CBSE school, Kilpauk, it was Rs 18,000 and Rs 29,800 for LKG and class 12. The same is now Rs 19,800 and Rs 32,780.
Similarly, schools including Guru Srishanthi Vijay Jain Vidhyalaya CBSE at Vepperi, Maharishi Vidhya Mandir school at Chetpet, Jawahar Vidhyalaya senior secondary matriculation school at Ashok Nagar, Bavans Rajaji vidhyashram school at Kilpauk, SBOA at Anna Nagar, DAV at Gopalapuram, Chettinaud Vidhyashram school at Raja Annamalaipuram, Padma Seshadri Balabavan school at K.K. Nagar, Nagional public school at Gopalapuram, Lady Aandal school at Chetpet, Sivaswami school at Mylapore, etc have also increased their fees. Over 80 schools in Chennai have issued their revised fees structure for this academic year.
