More than 10,000 applicants receive loans under the Amma Micro Loans Scheme

Over one lakh small traders have applied for the Amma Micro Loans Scheme that was launched on January 22. As per the Scheme, traders affected by the recent floods are eligible for a Rs. 5000 interest free loan.
According to sources, 2,068 camps have been held to receive applications. Initially, 500 camps were planned. In the first two days, loans of up to Rs. 5.03 crore were sanctioned to more than 10,000 applicants. The applicants included street vendors, fruit and vegetable sellers, tiffin stalls, petty shops etc.
