CM announces Chennai as Metropolitan Corporation

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalitha has announced Chennai Corporation as a Metropolitan Corporation through video conferencing from secretariat. 42 Local bodies including Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur are brought together with the corporation.
The Chennai Corporation is widened to 426 sq kilometer which was earlier 174 sq km.
