Ethiraj students want 100 percent enrolment for upcoming elections

Posted on: 23/Jan/2016 4:13:17 PM
Students of Ethiraj College for Women started a two day exercise to make sure that there will be 100 percent enrolment by the students for the upcoming State elections. The college was approached by the Election Commission to promote the online registration of eligible voters. They hope to cover all 8000 students aged between 18 and 19 years of age in the college.

Speaking about this, an official from the Election Commission said, This exercise would be extended to other colleges across Tamil Nadu in a phased manner, after getting the feedback from these students. We have found in census data that most of the youngsters in the age group of 18-19 years have not enrolled themselves in electoral list. We have to fill this gap, so this initiative is aimed at encouraging those youngsters... The Commission would also rectify any problem in online registration. On the feedback from students who enrolled online we will rectify the errors if any.

Students will receive the Electors Photo Identity Card within 21 days of registration, after due verification.
