With 3 successive holidays declared on the occasion of Pongal Festival, the crowd level of the devotees in Tirupathi was much larger than the usual level.

With the large crowd, TTD deployed the Mahalagu Darshan where the devotees are allowed to have a Darshan of Lord Venkateswara at a slightly longer distance.

On a single day on Sunday, 17th January alone, over 1 Lakh devotees had a Darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

As the crowd level was larger than usual, devotees in the Free Darshan system had to wait for around 10 hours.

The 20000 devotees who had undertaken the holy trip to Tirupathi reaching by walk/climbing the hills via Srivarimettu located in Alibiri and Chandragiri areas climbed the hill steps by the 2 pavement paths procured the tickets for Divya Darshan and waited for 9 hours to have a Darshan of the Lord Ezhumalaiyan.

For the devotees who had purchased Rs. 300 tickets for a special Darshan of the Lord, it took up to 3 hours for the Darshan.
