Changes in JEE: New examination format for joining IIT

Currently, students aspiring to join IIT & NIT are selected by appearing for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).
JEE is conducted in 2 sections: JEE Main Examination & JEE Advanced Test.There has been a persistent demand for changes in the format of JEE over a long period. The central government had reviewed this demand.
The central government has now decided to change the format of the JEE - Main Examination. As per this, identical examinations will be conducted throughout the country.
Candidates who perform well in the JEE Main examination only can write the JEE Advance Test. This will make for a system where only the cream of best performing candidates being selected and the rest eliminated.
Especially,the changed format for JEE Main will ensure only those candidates who have proven skills in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry can only succeed in this test, This will ensure the formation of the right base of excellently skilled student community.
It is expected that this changed format will be implemented from the next academic year.
