How to use Google Maps without the Internet

Inconsistent internet connectivity is frustrating at all times, but especially when you are travelling. You can, however, be ready for such a situation by downloading maps for offline use in Google Maps. You will be able to get directions and other details of an area that you have downloaded without the internet.
While this is extremely useful, you will not get walking, transit or cycling directions without the Internet. What you will get, however, are driving directions. If you are not driving, you will be able to view nearby places for your information. Here is how to download an offline map on your Android or iPhone.
- Sign into your Google account. Launch Google Maps.
- Search for the city, town or area you would like to download.
- Tap the var at the bottom of the screen that will have the name of the place you have selected.
- Tap on the Download button.
- You will get a prompt question asking if you want to download. Tap on Download to confirm.
