Introduction of online trading brings Revenue of Rs. 1000 Crores to Postal Department!

India Post had introduced the scheme of courier service to deliver the items ordered by customers through e-commerce.
The delivery system includes the arrangement for paying ‘Cash on Delivery’.
India Post operates this service jointly with online commercial trading agencies.
India Post has entered into agreement with various online traders including Amazon.
The central Minister for telecommunications Mr. Ravishankar Prasad informed that India Postal department has earned revenue of Rs. 1000 Crores on the ‘Cash on Delivery’ system till December 2015.
The Minister informed that revenue on this service is expected to increase to Rs. 1500 Crtores in this New Year.
