Polio Drops to be administered for 6.73 Lakh children in Chennai on 17th January

Polio Drop administering camps are being organised in larger numbers over the last 21 years at All-India level.
During this year 2016, Polio Administering camps are being organised in 2 phases. The first phase camp is scheduled on 17th January and the 2nd Phase camp is scheduled on 21st February.
During the 1st Phase camp scheduled on 17th January in Chennai, 1570 Polio Drop Administering centres will be set up in the city to administer to over 6.73 Lakh children.
As soon as the polio drop is administered, an impression will be made on the child. Polio drop is harmless for the child.
Hence, when whole lots of children are administered with Polio Drops, the virus causing polio is removed from their digestion zone. With this, it is possible to remove the entire polio virus bacteria existing in the environment.
The polio administering camps will start from 7.30 AM and function till 5.00 PM.
Around 6280 persons have been deployed for this special duty in the polio drop administering centres.
