Uthrayana Punniya Kaala Ursavam at Thiruvannamalayar Temple

The Uthrayana Punniya Kaala Ursavam at Thiruvannamalayar temple took place with flag hoisting today, the 7th January 2016. The event saw participation by thousands of devotees. At Thiruvannamalai temple, flag hoisting is done for special occasions including Karthigai Dheepam, Aadipooram, Uthrayana Punniya kaala ursavam, and Dhatchinaayana punniya kaala ursavam. In this way, the Uthrayana punniya kaala ursavam that takes place during the Tamil month Margazhi took place with punniya kaala brammotsava kodiyetram yesterday.
Special pooja were performed for Annamalayar and Annamalayamman Ursavar and Moolavar. This was followed by exclusive decoration of the idol. Unnamulayamman Samedha Annamalayar, lord Vinakar, and Parasakthi amman showered their blessings to the public at the Golden kodi maram.
Special chanting was done at 6.30 am at the golden kodimaram. There were thousands of devotees praying the lord then. This was followed by Swami maada veedhi ula. In the uthrayana punniya kaala brammotsavam, the swami maada veedhi ula will take place in the morning and evening until the end of Margazhi month.
