Targeted to promote and encourage letter writing among youngsters who are inundated with technological advancements, the Indian Department of Posts organizes Letter Exhibition every now and then. The department has now announced that the exhibition for this year will take place during the second week of January.

Experts from a press release rolled out by Chennai city regional postal sector is as follows

Letter writing has been a cultural practice during early days. The letters written by Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, and other national leaders are preserved as important documents. This being the scenario, the practice of letter writing is getting eventually devastated with the advent of Short Message Services, Facebook, Mail, and other modes of communication.

Bringing a changeover in this practice, the department of Indian post is about to conduct a Letter Exhibition in Chennai on 2nd January. The exhibition is open for the public as well.

One can showcase rare letters written to their relatives or those that tell about treasures. The selection board will reject letters that upsets emotions and feelings of other individuals. The board holds entire rights to select or reject a letter.

The original copies or photocopies of letters can be sent to “Supervisor, Stamp collection center, Anna Salai, Chief post office, Chennai – 600002.”
