Southern Railway makes its presence felt on social media

Southern Railways has been more active online by helping passengers and commuters with details about amenities available in railway stations. This is a step up from just giving out information about trains services. 

The new interaction started during the floods last month. On Twitter, the organisation updated timings of long distance and suburban trains and kept people informed about the damage of the bridge over the Adyar river between Guindy and Saidapet stations. Further, it also shared information about restorations. The active handles were @GMSRailway and @DrmChennai. 

An official from Southern Railway said, `Staff take turns to reply to tweets in which we are tagged and the senior officials too pitch in.`
