Immense protection measures by policemen this New Year

Posted on: 31/Dec/2015 11:50:13 AM
Each and every year, there is increasing number of accidents at the time of New Year celebrations. Particularly, in Chennai, there is no insufficiency for such accidents.

All the accidents taking place on roads like Marina, ECR, etc and those who accidentally get trapped while taking a bath in the sea can be brought under control if the policemen take enough efforts and monitoring. Death caused by individuals who OD on alcohol is the only kind that is out of control for policemen.

Below are some of the arrangements police have made in order to ensure safety during New Year celebration:
  • No one should be seen playing around on the road, drunk, on the eve of New Year. If done so, stringent action will be taken. If they limit their enjoyment, we will set them free to enjoy the very first day of the year
  • Eve teasing is intolerable. No matter what the day is, we cannot bear with eve teasers at anytime
  • Action will be taken against those who burst noisy crackers in public places
  • The manager or owner of star hotels will stand responsible of any possible mishap or accident that takes place within. The hotel management should have obtained approval for setting up stages from the public works department
  • Star hotels are not allowed to function during time other than the permitted hours. Hotel authorities should not allow drunken customers to swim in the pool
  • There were several complaints that those who own a house on ECR rent it out for Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per day in the name of Festival Rent. These places are used for malpractices like drug injection, and others. The police have taken severe action against such people last year
  • The driving license of drunk and drive individuals will be cancelled and their vehicle will be ceased. Further, discussions are on whether to take legal action on the co-passenger or pillion
  • In spite of all these arrangements, there is increasing number of deaths on Marina beach and on ECR. Between 11 pm on 31st December and 12.00 am on the New Year, the headcount here on Marina beach will be over five lakh
  • There will be over 10 to 50 lakh people present in Marina, Pattinapakkam, Besant Nagar, Mahabalipuram, etc altogether. This count is just the population per hour. The police is responsible of providing enough protection to all the public present on roads, star hotels, guest houses, beach, temples, tourist spots, and others
  • The police is also responsible of saving people from all rash drivers and those who take bath in beach
  • Of all the reasons for road accidents, drunk and drive stands on top. This is the reason for all deaths caused in beach, swimming pools and other gatherings.
