Palani Thai Poosam festival begins on 18th January 2016

With hoisting of flag at Perianayakai Amman Sri Somaskandhar Temple, popularly known as Oorkoil, the 10-day Thai Poosam festival will begin on 18th January.
Special pujas will be performed to Lord Vinayagar and to the flag post at the Kodikatti Mandapam. Sixteen kinds of abishekams and special deeparadhana will be performed to the presiding deities and the flag post. Later, mayura and vadhya pujas will be performed.
Special pujas will be performed to Lord Muthukumaraswamy and Goddesses Valli and Deivanai. They will be taken in a procession along the outer prakaram and placed at the Kodikatti Mandapam.
With the accompaniment of mantras and Thevaram hymns, the flag will be hoisted between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Thirukalyanam to Goddesses Valli and Deivanai with Lord Muthukumaraswamy will take place at 7.30 p.m. on 23rd January.. The car festival will he held at 4.35 p.m. the following day. The festival will conclude with the float festival .
