Posted on: 19/Nov/2015 6:24:16 PM
Tirupathi has been receiving heavy downpour of rain in the past few days. This has caused the large rocks on the second mountain of Tirupathi to collapse and fall down. There were also landslide here. Hence the way is blocked and the vehicles are being diverted.

Around 10.30, the entire pathway was blocked and was opened only at 4.30. There was heavy shower yesterday as well. Due to heavy rainfall and severe cold, total number of people thronging to the temple in general has largely got reduced. There were 33,498 devotees who worshiped the lord here yesterday. They were able to view the shrine in just two hours of wait.

During the night hours, they were able to worship the lord in just fifteen minutes. Devotees avoid traveling during night time due to falling of rocks, and hence there is a significant decrease in total number of devotees here.

Apart from this, the rooms for devotees to stay are also seen evacuated including that those are free for stay. This is claimed to be a historic scenario in Tirupathi, say officials at the temple.

Rooms priced Rs 500 saw good population staying within. Pushpa Yaagam took place at the temple yesterday and this had attracted devotees to the rooms charged Rs 500. Due to lack of enough visitors, the collection to Thirupathi hundi was reduced to Rs 1.24 crore.
