Chennaites beware of diseases

As there were prolonged heavy rains, the water would have been contaminated. Because of this there are many chances of disease outbreak. In order to prevent these diseases doctors have given some advice. Public health experts say that one of the major causes of concern at present is the contamination of water with sewage, especially drinking water, which can give rise to a host of water-borne diseases like cholera and diarrhea. A rise in cases of malaria, dengue and Chikungunya can be expected
 
Their advice to people is to boil water that will be used for drinking and cooking. When you come from outside you should wash your hands and feet. Avoid street food, food cooked in open air and hotel foods. During rainy season, the freshly prepared food should be eaten. Avoid refrigerated food.
 
Precautionary measure for children:
 
Children will be easily affected because of the contamination of water. A doctor of Kilpauk Hospital said, Children can easily be affected by respiratory problems like cold and asthma. Hence the children should not be allowed to play in rain water. They should be trained to drink boiled water. In the nights, they should be covered with warm clothes like woolen blankets. If the children come from outside or toilet, the hands and legs should be cleaned. Fast Foods should be totally avoided.
