Dr. K. M. Cherian, CEO and Chairman, Frontier Lifeline Hospital was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by Pondicherry University today, for his unsurpassed contribution to cardiac care in Medical education and research in the 21st annual Convocation function. Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission was awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters during the occasion.
Dr. K. M. Cherian has been in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery for over four decades and has performed over 35,000 surgeries. A visionary and passionate Dr. K. M. Cherian established �Frontier Lifeline and Dr. K. M. Cherian Heart Foundation� to provide quality health care. Dr. Cherian is also a recipient of Honorary Doctorate of Science by King George�s Medical University.
On receiving the honor, Dr. K. M. Cherian, Chairman & CEO, Frontier Lifeline said, �It�s a great honor for me to be bestowed with this honor. This will further encourage and motivate me to serve in the filed of cardiac care and educate the young generation. Health care has become more specialized and Research will help address complex problems.�
Prof. J. A. K. Thareen-Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University presided over the function. Dr Iqbal Singh-Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry and the Chief Rector of the University, Mr. V Narayanasamy-Union Minister, Mr. V. Vaithilingam-Chief Minister of Pondicherry and Mr. P. Kannan-Member of Parliament were also present during the occasion.
