Govt approves 6% DA hike for central government employees

In what will be a bonanza for the central government employees, the Union Cabinet is all set to clear 6% Dearness Allowance (DA) to the employees and a 6% Dearness Relief (DR) to central government pensioners on Tuesday.
The decision to increase the DA from 45% to 51% was taken by the Union Cabinet in a meeting on Tuesday morning.
Over 50 lakh government employees and 38 lakhs pensioners will be benefitted by this decision.The increased DA and DR will be applicable from January 1, 2011.
The increase in DA by 6 percent is in accordance with the formula prescribed by the Sixth Pay Commission for central government employees.
