Anusha Rizvi Bags Gollapudi Srinivas Award For 2010

The Gollapudi Srinivas National Award for 2010, instituted by the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation, was awarded to Anusha Rizvi for her Hindi film Peepli Live, which has been showcased at several film festivals across the world and been well received. The Aamir Khan-produced film, a satire on media`s trivialisation of farmers` suicide, was selected from 16 other nominations from across the country in Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali and Kannada. Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Kavithalaya Krishnan and Gollapudi Ramakrishna were the jury members.
The award, instituted by the Gollapudi Srinivas Memorial Foundation, is given to a debutant director annually in memory of Gollapudi Srinivas, who passed away in an accident while making his first film.
The award comprises a purse of Rs. 1.5 lakh and a memento. The award is given each year on August 12. This year`s ceremony will be held at Kamaraj Arangam, Chennai.
