List of Padma Shri Awards 2011

Padma Awards, the country�s highest civilian awards, are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The awards are given in all disciplines/ fields of activities, viz. art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. �Padma Vibhushan� is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service; �Padma Bhushan� for distinguished service of high order and �Padma Shri� for distinguished service in any field. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
Winners of Padma Awards 2011
Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Motek Singh Ahluwalia, Business tycoon Azeem Premji, noted Economist Vijay Kelkar, former National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra, well known writer Dr. Sitakant Mahapatra and Art scholar Kapila Vatsayan are among thirteen people who have been selected for Padma Vibhushan Award.
Music Director Khayam, cine stars Shashi Kapoor, Wahida Rehman and Theatre Director Satyadev Dubey are to be honoured with Padma Bhushan alongwith, former Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran and Social Worker Shobna Ranade. Cine Stars Tabu, Kajol, Irfan Khan, Pop Singer Usha Uthup, Karnatak vocalist Janakiraman, Cricketer V.V.S. Lakshman, weightlifter Kunjarani Devi, Wrestler Sushil Kumar are among 75 persons selected for Padma Shree Awards. In a total of 128 Padma awards, 31 are women.
